Some things grow before we can see them. Wait for a little seed with Nara.
SANYANGGAE1
A Very Small Beginning
The moonlight seed in this story is imaginary. Shall we meet this tiny beginning, glimmering like light in the night?
2
A Light in Her Palm
One evening, Grandma gave Nara a moonlight seed. The little seed glowed softly in her palm. “What kind of flower will it be?” Nara's eyes sparkled, too.
3
The Seed's Own Time
Grandma smiled. “Give it soil, sunlight, and just enough water, and watch over it. The seed will tell you when it's ready to sprout.” Nara cupped her hands gently around the little light.
4
A Soft New Home
The next day, Nara gently smoothed a patch of garden soil and planted the seed. She gave it a little water and marked the spot with a round stone. “This is your new home.”
5
Still the Same Today
Morning, noon, and evening, Nara peered beside the stone. The soil looked exactly as it had before. She knelt down and whispered, “Little seed, can you hear me?”
6
What About More Water?
The next day, there was still no sprout, so Nara picked up her watering can again. “Would more water make you grow faster?” But when she touched the soil, it was still damp.
7
Giving What Is Needed
Nara put the watering can down. “I should see what you need now, rather than just give you more.” She wanted to take the seed out to check it, but she left its blanket of soil in place.
8
Quiet Days
Each day, Nara checked the soil and watered it only when it was dry. Sometimes she sat beside the stone and read a book. “I learned a new word today. What have you been doing?”
9
While No One Could See
Everything looked quiet above, but tiny roots were stretching through the soil below. Nara could not see them. Still, she cared for the seed's place every day so it could grow in peace.
10
A Green Hello
One morning a few days later, a tiny green tip stood beside the stone. Nara leaned close in surprise. Two little leaves gently opened toward her.
11
Worth the Wait
“Hello! At last we meet!” Nara almost clapped, then gently brought her hands together. She smiled quietly beside the sprout so it would not shake. It was a very little meeting, and a very big one, too.
12
A Garden of Moonlight
More days passed. One night, beneath a round moon, the flower bud opened. A soft glow shone on every petal. It was as if a little piece of moonlight had settled in Nara's garden.
13
Growing Together
Nara sat beside the flower with Grandma. “I thought nothing was happening while I waited.” Grandma held her hand. All that time, Nara's caring heart had been growing a little, too.
14
Let's Talk Together
What did Nara pay attention to as she cared for the seed? What would you like to care for and wait for patiently? Tell someone about the garden in your heart.
15
Keep a Little Light
The moonlight seed's story is over. A change you cannot see today might become tomorrow's little hello.
