1. Classification, origins and habitat
The Cornish Rex developed from curly-coated domestic cat lines found in Cornwall in the United Kingdom. Although its regional name and coat resemble the Devon Rex’s, the two have separate genetic backgrounds and breed standards. Simply grouping all Rex breeds as one kind of curly cat makes descriptions of faces and coat texture inaccurate. Read modern breeding and registration records as evidence of breed origins; resemblance to ancient Egyptian drawings is not proof of direct descent.
2. Appearance and identification
A long, slender body, long legs, large ears, an elongated head and a short rippled coat are characteristic. Coat layers and texture differ from an ordinary full long-haired coat. Observe the posture of an apparently arched body alongside actual body shape. A slender appearance is not a standard encouraging underweight; muscle and activity also need consideration. Colors and patterns vary, so one gray or striped photograph does not establish the shared appearance of every individual.
3. Behavior and way of life
Active participation in movement, play and exploration around people is described as a tendency. It does not guarantee that every cat jumps to the same height or always wants contact. Time to focus on a toy and then rest is also needed. Do not interpret choosing warm places because of a short coat solely as affection for people. The agile impression of a slender body is separate from individual health and personality, so observe the context of current behavior.
4. Observation, conservation and care
Care for the delicate coat according to actual skin and dirt conditions rather than repeated rough brushing. Provide places where the cat can choose to leave direct sunlight and cold or hot surfaces. Offer high places, play, hiding and rest, and do not grip the slender body to pose it. Avoid claims that sparse hair eliminates allergies. Use a photographic example showing the combination of long head, body and rippled coat, rather than substituting a Devon Rex just because it also has large ears.
